Take on the TrekFest challenge – choose your distance, and make every step count! With 25km and 50km routes to choose from, whether you walk, jog, or even run you’ll be challenging yourself in one of the UK’s most beautiful national parks – the Brecon Beacons, South Wales. Full of incredible scenery, rolling countryside and impressive mountains, the Brecon Beacons National Park is also an SAS training ground – expect stunning yet challenging terrain! Sign up solo or as a team with friends, family or colleagues – the team spirit will be flying high, so join us for our ultimate UK trek in 2020!
Taking on TrekFest is no walk in the park by any means – it’s tough and set to challenge you by pushing you further, beyond your limits, both mentally and physically. Determination is a must but with the right training it is achievable, as thousands of trekkers over the last five years will testify!
The TrekFest Village
There are plenty of facilities available at the event village throughout the weekend – toilets, showers, camping plots and food & drink. Joins us for a delicious BBQ and a drink at the TrekFest bar on the Friday night before the challenge gets underway the next day. Tents and camper vans are all welcome so bring your support network and make a weekend of it!
There are two route available, a 25k and a 50k hike. You can choose which one you want to do.
15.5 miles approx.
We leave the TrekFest Village and enjoy walking on quiet country roads. After approximately 9km and our first checkpoint we start our ascent up to Pen y Fan – from the checkpoint we climb up towards Corn Du and as we make our twisting ascent from the valley bottom we experience views of Llyn Cwm Llwch below and pass by the Tommy Jones Obelisk. Upon reaching Corn Du ridge we head towards the summit of Pen Y Fan where at the summit we can enjoy the amazing views before beginning our descent. We will start steeply before heading along the ridge of Cefn Cwm Llwch, and steadily down to our second checkpoint. From the checkpoint our final stretch follows country roads on sections of the Three Rivers Ride path back to the TrekFest Village.
31 miles approx.

We head to Fan y Big, one of the four highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons before descending steadily to our well needed food stop! Following the food stop we make our way through the Taf Fechan Forest and enjoy the Taff Trail along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. We walk along the canal until we reach the finish stopping off briefly in Talybont-on-Usk at our final checkpoint.

About the ticket
If you buy your ticket directly from the organiser, it would cost you £105 – £180 (depending on when you buy it and if you choose 25k or 50k route). We are willing to cover the cost of your entry.
All we ask is that you create a Just Giving page and point it to our charity. As soon as you have raised the minimum amount (£250 for the 25k route, or £310 for the 50k route), we will buy a ticket and email you the details so you can log into the TrekFest website and claim it. We would ask that you do your best to get as much money as you can and not just to aim for the minimum and then stop. Our charity is run solely from donations and we need your help to continue to support those affected with Alpha-1 and their families.
Once you have reached the minimum amount and it is close to the event, we will send you either a T-Shirt or Vest (these are dry wicking technical running tops, the same type the professionals use).
While we will all be there as a team, we know that everybody will have their own pace and will want to go at different speeds. We ask that we can go over the start line together, but after that everybody can go off as individuals or stay with others who are doing the same pace. Emma and Alan Wooler will be trying our hardest to beat the 5 hour mark, you are more than welcome to stay with us if you would like.
Please use the below form to show that you are interested in doing the hike with us.
Be aware that by using the below form, it does not grantee you a ticket to the event.
